RECURRING UTI's In The SCI Community - How To Break The Vicious Cycle!
We are seeing a lot of repeat posts on our Facebook Community Group (link in menu) about recurring UTIs lately so we thought we would post a resource post to get you started on your journey of moving out of the recurring phase.
Fact: If your partner is struggling with recurring UTIs: they only happen when ALL good and bad bacteria is GONE - from taking antibiotics. There is nothing left to fight off invasive bacteria. You will keep going in circles until the gut and ureter bacteria is re-populated in a healthy way. When you know this, the solution seems very obvious: re-populate with the good “fighters”. . Unfortunately this is not supported by most physicans because in practice, they’re about 50 years behind current research (below) that advocates for this. So it’s up to you to learn and connect the dots.
Here are some “mainstream” western medicine resources to get you started on your own research journey:
- Establishing the role of the gut microbiota in susceptibility to recurrent urinary tract infections (PubMed) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8884912/
- Antibiotic treatment of urinary tract infection and its impact on the gut microbiota (Lancet) https://www.thelancet.com/.../PIIS1473-3099(21.../abstract
- https://www.news-medical.net/.../What-Role-do-Microbiomes...
- Deep insights into urinary tract infections and effective natural remedies (Springer Open Journal) https://afju.springeropen.com/.../10.1186/s12301-020-00111-z
As you know, we are relentless in our advocacy of doing your own research, questioning everything, and looking for root causes. After you do your own research on this subject, we highly encourage you to find naturopathic or holistic remedies to help re-build the microbiome naturally.
We will soon post a resource article on natural remedies to this common issue.
Thanks for your interest in root-cause approaches to healing!
