WAGS of SCI: The Podcast - Ep. 99 - WAGS in Real Life: Handling Bed Rest
/

If you have a partner with a Spinal Cord Injury, chances are, you know about or have probably experienced what bed rest is, SCI style. This episode is a dose of “WAGS of SCI Real Life” where we talk all about bed rest, and how BOTH our partners, at the same time (for the first time ever), have had to take 2 weeks of bed rest to deal with different secondary conditions of their injuries. We talk about the real issues as to why people with SCI have to (or want to) do periods of bed rest, and how it affects us as the partner and caregiver.

While Brooke was in Italy, and doing bed rest because of a skin injury with her husband Evan without a medical bed or the luxuries of their usual life like an overhead lift, Elena and Dan were back home in Vancouver doing the exact same thing but because of Dan’s pain caused by a improperly fitted wheelchair cushion. So what did we do about it? Podcast about it of course!

Get an insight into our bed rest stories so you can feel less alone when YOUR partner has to go through it, and, learn tips on how other WAGS make the most out of this incredibly inconvenient, sometimes frustrating, sometimes overwhelming period of time. We also talk about the psychological aspects of going through longer periods of bed rest, and how friends/family can help. You’ll love this ‘real life’ episode!
